FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is the
ESS?
The ESS is an Energy Saving System device. The ESS is designed
to help reduce energy consumption from the utility company for both commercial
and residential properties.
2. Where does the ESS
unit get installed?
The ESS unit gets installed as close as it
can to your inductive motors, i.e., distribution panel, disconnect box, etc.
3.
How many ESS units do I need?
Depending on your facilities energy
consumption and electrical layout, multiple ESS units may be required.
4.
Is my power interrupted at any time?
No! The ESS unit is installed
in parallel, so at no time is power ever interrupted.
5.
Is motor performance affected?
No! Motor performance is actually
improved. Once the ESS unit is installed, your inductive motors will run cooler
and require less energy to run.
6. What kind of
savings/benefits can I expect?
The ESS will save you money in the
following ways: improving the motors power factor, reducing demand kW and kWh
consumption, reduce maintenance, and prolong the life of the motor.
7.
How does the ESS work?
Through our choke technology, the ESS unit
will reduce the amount of excess energy sent to these motors that you get charged
for.
8. What is power factor?
Power
Factor (PF) dictates the efficiency of the inductive motor. The higher the PF,
the more efficient the motor is.
9. What type of
customers does the ESS work for?
The ESS works with any inductive
motor. Our clients include large commercial, industrial, and institutional customers
in many industries, including major supermarkets and distribution centers, chain
restaurants, convenience stores, hotels, and other manufacturing facilities. We
also have a residential unit.
10. How do I know
if I qualify for an ESS unit?
If your facility has inductive motors
such as pumps, elevators, HVAC, chillers, conveyer belts, refrigerators, freezers,
etc., you qualify.
11. Do you have a home unit?
Yes. If your home-energy bill exceeds $250 per month, you qualify.
12.
Will you improve my rate?
No! The ESS unit reduces energy consumption
only. However, your monthly energy bill will be reduced.
13.
What are inductive loads?
Inductive loads are any electrical equipment
that require magnetism to operate such as motor-driven appliances/equipment like
A/C, refrigerators, pumps, etc., and some lighting systems magnetically ballasted
fluorescent and high-pressure sodium lights.
14.
Does the ESS need any maintenance?
No! Since the ESS is a solid-state
device, it requires zero maintenance.
15. How can
you help me assess my facility?
Just contact one of our staff,
and we would be happy to assist you.
